Pinewood Haven is a private, 10-acre, vacation rental and wedding venue located in the beautiful Wet Mountains, about 3 hours southwest of Denver on the outskirts of historical Westcliffe, CO. The property offers breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and beautiful sprawling meadows.

Pinewood Haven is the ideal place to relax and unwind after a long day of enjoying the mountains and other local attractions. At over 7,800 feet above sea level, Westcliffe offers clean air, wide open spaces, incomparable scenic beauty and some 300 square miles of public lands where one can enjoy hundreds of miles of trails, dozens of mountain lakes, and herds of wildlife, such as elk, deer, antelope and bighorn sheep. These lands are also home to the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness area, Deweese Reservoir and nearby Arkansas River. What’s more, the adjoining towns of Silver Cliff and Westcliffe offer some great restaurants and bars, fun shops, a thriving arts scene, historical attractions and nearly nonstop festivals and events during the summer months. Plus, the towns are situated away from the regional light pollution along the I-25 corridor, and the area’s small population, rural setting and limited outdoor lighting have kept the night skies over Westcliffe and Silver Cliff in relatively pristine condition, allowing it to be named an International Dark Sky Community — the first to attain this distinction in Colorado, the ninth in the world and the highest anywhere!

Pinewood Haven is the perfect spot for a one-of-a-kind vacation getaway, small mountain retreat, romantic escape or intimate destination wedding.

Beautiful area of Colorado. We had a glorious week in the Westcliffe area and this home was a great base. Beautiful home, well set up, hosts very helpful and responsive, great sunset views to the Sangre de Cristo mountain range.

We are from Oregon and we met our friends from Houston. What an amazing time we had here. This rental is by far the best either of us had ever stayed in. (And that’s a lot!) The home is beautiful and beautifully decorated. It was stocked with everything you could possibly want or need and was spotlessly clean. The owner was so easy to work with. We had a family emergency and had to postpone. She was so kind and did everything she could to work with us. We had an amazing time!!!!

The Stanberry's cabin was awesome. It was clean, homey and so relaxing. It was stocked with everything needed. We loved sitting on the deck at night looking at the stars and in the mornings we could watch the deer. We hated to leave this place. If you are looking for solitude and relaxation, this is the place. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

We visited for the final week of July 2020. The property was immaculately maintained and the amenities were just top shelf, very nice. The host could not have been easier to communicate with and were accommodating for all our interests. We were there for a hiking vacation and the firm mattress in the master was just a blessing every night. The views from the home/cabin were outstanding. All the comforts of home, well stocked kitchen and bath, wireless internet and satellite TV worked flawlessly. We plan to share the vacation find with friends and hope to return for another trip ourselves. K/T

My wife and I had a relaxing getaway in this owners mountain cabin. It was well appointed with everything you could need. The bed slept wonderful. The drive to get here is gorgeous. The view from the deck is gorgeous with the Sangre De Cristo range in the background. We would definitely stay here again! Tim and Cindy

This is a spectacular property that is immaculate. My wife and I recently wanted to get away from it all. We were floored by how the cabin was set up. Every single notion was top quality. The views of the sangre de Christo mountain range from the living area and the surrounding 10 acres are beyond words. The town of Westcliff ( about 12 minutes away) had good food and anything we needed. We took two excursions: We went to a small artist community called la veta and also went to a quirky attraction called bishops castle. Both destinations were great and the whole time while getting to them, we found ourselves blown away by the spectacular mountain backdrop and the accessible greenery. It is so much easier to enjoy a great area when the accommodations are just. Perfect.

inewood Haven is a lovely place to stay! My family enjoyed every moment of this very comfortable cabin (equipped with anything and everything you would need) with the most breathtaking view from dawn to dusk, and then the view of the stars late into the night! Saw lots of wildlife, took long walks, carved pumpkins on the deck! 10/10 from this girl!

We stayed at Pinewood Haven at the end of the rental season. We were lucky to get a few crystal clear days as well as some snow which outlined the Sangre de Cristo's in the distance. It was just beautiful! The house was new, clean, and super comfortable for our stay. We enjoyed the epic views from the living room and deck spending any time at the house gazing at the mountains, stars, or walking the deer filled property. Pinewood Haven was exactly the escape we were looking for! The town of Westcliffe had everything one would need for a stay and exploring the area was great. We explored some mountain passes, got some local food, and just enjoyed the slower pace. We would recommend Pinewood Haven to anyone looking for a great escape into rural Colorado. We will absolutely be returning for another stay. Can't beat the constant mountain and star views!

Although Westcliffe offers the necessities, such as gas stations, convenience stores, banks, restaurants, liquor stores, a hardware store, a medical center and a post office, you won’t find any large scale shopping or big box stores nearby. You are renting a cabin in the rural Rocky Mountains. Life moves slower here. Communication systems go down periodically, businesses come and go, we have a lot of area wildlife, the weather is unpredictable, wildfires and other unforeseen acts of God occur on occasion. Please pack your patience, just in case, and plan accordingly.

FAQ

Pinewood Haven is located about 15-20 minutes south of Westcliffe off of a county-maintained road. Although the road to the cabin is dirt, it is well maintained and is easily passable year-round. A 4×4 is not generally necessary, but it’s a good idea in the winter.

There is a grocery store (Lowe’s) in the town of Westcliffe, 15-20 minutes from the cabin. Additionally, Westcliffe hosts a Farmer’s Market on Wednesdays during the summer months and there is an Ace Hardware, Family Dollar and Dollar General in town for other necessities. There is no pharmacy in Westcliffe or Silvercliff.

You may or may not get cell service at the cabin depending upon your carrier. That being said, we do have Internet service and basic satellite TV programming. Generally, both are reliable, however, our rural service DOES NOT support video streaming. Additionally, we have a home satellite phone for emergencies and domestic calls, just in case your phone doesn’t work at the property.

Pinewood Haven is a wonderful, peaceful place to get away from it all. However, it is at altitude (approx. 8,900 ft above sea level) and may not be appropriate for guests who suffer from altitude-related health issues. Stay hydrated!
